ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Sacubitril, Valsartan
Sacubitril, Valsartan falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Maitake Mushroom interacts with.
Animal research shows that maitake mushroom can lower blood pressure.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: Entresto (sacubitril/valsartan) already works hard to relax your blood vessels and lighten the load on your heart, which naturally lowers blood pressure. Maitake mushroom may have a mild blood-pressure-lowering effect of its own, so stacking the two could theoretically push your pressure down a little too far.
If that happened, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or woozy when standing up. I want to be honest, though: this concern comes only from animal studies and how the drug works on paper, not from solid human research. Eating maitake as food is unlikely to matter much; concentrated supplements are the bigger question. Before starting any maitake supplement, check with your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on your blood pressure.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Sacubitril, Valsartan page
“Entresto (sacubitril and valsartan) is a heart failure medicine, and heart failure patients tend to be heavy supplement users, reaching for fish oil, potassium, and herbal blood-pressure remedies. That instinct carries real risk here.”

About Maitake Mushroom
What is Maitake Mushroom?
- Immune support
- Blood sugar support in diabetes
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- General wellness and antioxidant support
Maitake is an edible mushroom long used as food and in traditional Japanese medicine, and it is being studied for possible immune, blood sugar, and blood pressure effects. The human evidence is still limited and not strong enough to recommend it as a treatment. It is generally well tolerated as food, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated supplements.
About Valsartan and Sacubitril
What Is Valsartan and Sacubitril Used For?
Brand name: Entresto
Sacubitril and valsartan is used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization for heart failure in adult patients with chronic heart failure. The benefit is most clearly seen in patients whose heart pumps with a lower-than-normal ejection fraction (the percentage of blood the heart pushes out with each beat).
It is also approved to treat symptomatic heart failure with reduced left ventricular function in children aged 1 year and older. In pediatric patients, it lowers a blood marker of heart stress (NT-proBNP) and is expected to improve heart outcomes.
