These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Noni interacts with whole categories of medication. Candesartan Cilexetil falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Noni in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
1 of 2Why this applies to Candesartan Cilexetil
Candesartan Cilexetil falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Noni interacts with.
Preliminary clinical research suggests that drinking noni juice can reduce blood pressure in individuals with hypertension.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: candesartan already works to bring your blood pressure down, and some early research hints that noni juice may lower blood pressure too. Put the two together and there's a chance your numbers could dip a little lower than expected. That might leave you feeling dizzy or lightheaded, especially when you stand up quickly, and you could feel unusually tired.
To be fair, this concern rests on weak, anecdotal evidence, so for most people it's not a big deal, and a splash of noni now and then is unlikely to cause trouble. Still, if you plan to drink noni regularly, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor, and keep an eye on your blood pressure readings at home.

ANGIOTENSIN RECEPTOR BLOCKERS (ARBs)
2 of 2Candesartan Cilexetil also falls under ANGIOTENSIN RECEPTOR BLOCKERS (ARBs).
Noni juice contains significant amounts of potassium, about 6 mEq/100 mL juice. This may increase the risk for hyperkalemia when used in conjunction with ARBs, which can also increase potassium levels.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to keep an eye on with candesartan (Atacand) and noni. Candesartan works by relaxing your blood vessels, and one of its normal effects is to nudge your potassium levels up a bit. Noni juice happens to be fairly rich in potassium too (roughly 6 mEq per 100 mL). So if you drink a lot of noni juice while taking candesartan, you could push your potassium higher than it should go, a condition called hyperkalemia.
To be fair, this is a theoretical concern based mostly on anecdotal reports, not strong studies, so I don't want to alarm you. An occasional small glass likely won't be a problem for most people. But before you make noni a daily habit, check in with your pharmacist or doctor, especially if you have kidney trouble. Watch for muscle weakness, tingling, or an irregular heartbeat.

- General wellness and energy
- Inflammation and joint pain
- Immune support
- High blood pressure
- Skin and wound care
- Digestive complaints
Noni is a tropical fruit used widely in folk medicine and sold mostly as a juice or supplement, but solid human evidence for its many claimed benefits is limited. While moderate juice intake is generally well tolerated, there are rare reports of liver problems, and it should be avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have kidney or liver disease.
About Candesartan
What Is Candesartan Used For?
Brand names: Atacand, Amias
Candesartan tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and in children ages 1 to under 17. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks.
Candesartan tablets are also used in adults with heart failure (NYHA class II–IV) with reduced heart pumping function to lower the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization from heart failure. Atacand is specifically studied for use alongside an ACE inhibitor for added benefit in heart failure.
