ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Candesartan Cilexetil
Candesartan Cilexetil falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Adrafinil interacts with.
Adrafinil is a precursor to the stimulant prescription drug modafinil. Modafinil has been shown to increase diastolic and systolic blood pressure. Retrospective analyses show that patients taking modafinil had a small but increased rate of requiring new antihypertensive drugs or increased use of antihypertensive drugs when compared with placebo.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version. Candesartan (Atacand) is a blood pressure medicine that relaxes your vessels and keeps your numbers down. Adrafinil turns into modafinil in your body, and modafinil tends to nudge blood pressure up. So these two work against each other. The worry is that adrafinil could partly cancel out what candesartan is doing, leaving your blood pressure higher than you and your doctor planned for.
I want to be straight with you: this is a theoretical concern based on how these drugs behave, not strong proof, and any effect is likely small. Still, if you use both, it's smart to check your blood pressure at home now and then and let your pharmacist or doctor know. Please don't change your candesartan dose on your own.

About Candesartan
What Is Candesartan Used For?
Brand names: Atacand, Amias
Candesartan lowers blood pressure in adults and in children 1 to under 17 years old. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks.
It is also used to treat heart failure (NYHA class II-IV) in adults whose heart pumps weakly (left ventricular systolic dysfunction). In these patients it reduces the risk of cardiovascular death and hospital stays for heart failure. The Atacand and candesartan cilexetil tablet labels both list these uses.
