Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the simple version: both noni and the acetaminophen in Advil Dual Action can be hard on the liver in certain people. Acetaminophen is well known for liver stress when doses run high, and noni has a handful of rare case reports linking it to liver trouble too. Stacking two things that lean on the same organ is the worry here. The ibuprofen side is more of a stomach and kidney concern than a liver one.

I'll be straight with you, this concern is theoretical and based on scattered anecdotes, not strong studies, so don't panic. Still, it's worth flagging your liver. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them, especially if you already have liver issues or drink alcohol regularly.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen page

“Advil Dual Action pairs ibuprofen, an NSAID with built-in stomach-bleeding risk, and acetaminophen, which the liver processes, so this interaction list deserves a careful read, not a skim. Most of the entries can add to bleeding risk, while smaller clusters put extra strain on the liver or kidneys.”

About Noni

What is Noni?

Noni
  • General wellness and energy
  • Inflammation and joint pain
  • Immune support
  • High blood pressure
  • Skin and wound care
  • Digestive complaints

Noni is a tropical fruit used widely in folk medicine and sold mostly as a juice or supplement, but solid human evidence for its many claimed benefits is limited. While moderate juice intake is generally well tolerated, there are rare reports of liver problems, and it should be avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have kidney or liver disease.
