Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Chlorpheniramine, Phenylephrine
Chlorpheniramine, Phenylephrine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Padang Cassia interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version. The combo pill you asked about pairs chlorpheniramine (an older antihistamine) with phenylephrine (a decongestant). Lab tests suggest concentrated cinnamon like Padang cassia may gently slow down CYP3A4, one of the liver enzymes that helps clear chlorpheniramine. If that enzyme runs slower, a little more of the drug could linger, which in theory might bump up its usual effects like drowsiness, dry mouth, dizziness, or feeling foggy.
Honestly, this is only seen in test-tube studies, so it's a maybe, not a sure thing. Sprinkling cinnamon on your food won't cause trouble. If you're taking strong cinnamon capsules daily, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Chlorpheniramine, Phenylephrine page
“A medicine that stimulates the heart and dries the body doesn't leave much room for supplements pulling the same way, and that describes chlorpheniramine, phenylephrine (Histatab Plus, Ed A Hist, Rynatan) well. Dozens of stimulant herbs, everyday caffeine sources among them, add to the decongestant's strain on blood pressure and heart…”

About Padang Cassia
What is Padang Cassia?
- Adding flavor to food
- Digestive upset
- Blood sugar support
- Antimicrobial purposes
- Antioxidant support
Padang Cassia is a type of cinnamon (Indonesian or Korintje cinnamon) grown mainly in Indonesia and used widely as a kitchen spice. As a supplement, evidence for health benefits like blood sugar control is limited and mixed, and like other cassia cinnamons it naturally contains coumarin, which can be harmful to the liver in large amounts. Use food amounts freely, but talk to a pharmacist or doctor before taking concentrated cinnamon supplements.
