Aripiprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Padang Cassia interacts with.

In vitro research shows that a methanol extract of Padang cassia inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) activity. Theoretically, taking Padang cassia with CYP3A4 substrates might increase the effects and side effects of these substrates.

Your body relies partly on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear aripiprazole (Abilify). Lab studies suggest a concentrated extract of Padang cassia can slow that enzyme down a bit. If that happened in real life, aripiprazole could linger longer and build up, which might make its effects and side effects stronger. With this medicine that could mean more drowsiness, restlessness, dizziness, or feeling shaky.

Here's the reassuring part: this is based only on test-tube research, not on people, so it's theoretical. The cinnamon you sprinkle on food is very unlikely to matter. The bigger question is concentrated cinnamon capsules. Before starting one, run it by your pharmacist or doctor so they can check it against your dose.

Padang Cassia is a type of cinnamon (Indonesian or Korintje cinnamon) grown mainly in Indonesia and used widely as a kitchen spice.
