Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Caffeine (OTC drug)
Caffeine (OTC drug) falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Padang Cassia interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the honest picture for your caffeine pill: the concern on file is that a lab extract of Padang cassia can slow down an enzyme called CYP3A4. The catch is that caffeine is mostly broken down by a different enzyme (CYP1A2), not CYP3A4. So this particular interaction is on shaky ground for caffeine specifically.
On top of that, the evidence is only test-tube and animal data, which is the weakest kind. If anything did happen, caffeine staying around longer could mean a bit more jitteriness, a racing heart, or trouble sleeping. Sprinkling cinnamon on your food won't do this. If you take concentrated cinnamon supplements alongside caffeine pills, just run it by your pharmacist to be safe.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Caffeine (OTC drug) page
“The person swallowing a caffeine pill like Vivarin to power through a shift is often the same person drinking coffee, taking an herbal energy blend, or scooping pre-workout powder, and that overlap is exactly where the danger sits. Seven of the 208 supplement ingredients on file carry a major rating, and those seven are worth understan…”

About Padang Cassia
What is Padang Cassia?
- Adding flavor to food
- Digestive upset
- Blood sugar support
- Antimicrobial purposes
- Antioxidant support
Padang Cassia is a type of cinnamon (Indonesian or Korintje cinnamon) grown mainly in Indonesia and used widely as a kitchen spice. As a supplement, evidence for health benefits like blood sugar control is limited and mixed, and like other cassia cinnamons it naturally contains coumarin, which can be harmful to the liver in large amounts. Use food amounts freely, but talk to a pharmacist or doctor before taking concentrated cinnamon supplements.
