Deucravacitinib falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Padang Cassia interacts with.

There is some concern that ingesting large amounts of Padang cassia might cause hepatotoxicity in some people. Padang cassia contains coumarin. Coumarin has caused hepatotoxicity in animal models. In otherwise healthy humans, very high doses of coumarin, from 50-7000 mg daily, can result in hepatotoxicity that resolves when coumarin use is discontinued. Lower amounts might also cause liver problems in sensitive people, such as those with liver disease or those taking potentially hepatotoxic agents.

Here's the simple version: this isn't about cinnamon changing how Sotyktu works in your body. It's about the liver. Cassia cinnamons like Padang cassia naturally contain coumarin, which in large concentrated amounts has been linked to liver irritation. Deucravacitinib can also occasionally bump up liver enzymes on its own, so the worry is that stacking two things that lean on the liver could add up in sensitive people.

To be honest, this concern is theoretical, based mostly on the chemistry and animal data, not strong human studies. Sprinkling cinnamon on your food is very unlikely to be a problem. The caution is really about daily high-dose cinnamon capsules. If you take Sotyktu, just check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting a concentrated cinnamon supplement.

Padang Cassia is a type of cinnamon (Indonesian or Korintje cinnamon) grown mainly in Indonesia and used widely as a kitchen spice. What Is Deucravacitinib Used For?

Brand name: Sotyktu

Sotyktu (deucravacitinib) is approved to treat two conditions in adults. First, it treats moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis in people who are candidates for systemic (body-wide) therapy or phototherapy (light therapy). It is not recommended to combine Sotyktu with other strong immune-suppressing medications for this use.

Second, Sotyktu is approved to treat active psoriatic arthritis in adults.
