HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Fezolinetant
Fezolinetant falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Padang Cassia interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the concern with pairing concentrated Padang cassia (a cassia cinnamon) with Veozah (fezolinetant). Fezolinetant is used to ease hot flashes from menopause, and it already comes with a warning about liver strain. Before you even start it, your doctor checks your liver enzymes and rechecks them periodically. Cassia cinnamon naturally contains coumarin, which in large supplement doses has been linked to liver irritation that usually clears once you stop.
So the worry isn't a chemical reaction between the two. It's simply piling one liver stressor on top of another. This is theoretical, based on how coumarin behaves, not proven with fezolinetant. A sprinkle on your oatmeal is fine. Concentrated cinnamon capsules are worth running by your pharmacist first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Fezolinetant page
“The liver is the reason to be genuinely careful pairing supplements with fezolinetant (Veozah), the nonhormonal treatment for menopausal hot flashes. Fezolinetant carries its own liver-injury warnings and requires blood-test monitoring, and 38 of the 130 interacting ingredients on file can harm the liver themselves, adding a second str…”

About Padang Cassia
What is Padang Cassia?
- Adding flavor to food
- Digestive upset
- Blood sugar support
- Antimicrobial purposes
- Antioxidant support
Padang Cassia is a type of cinnamon (Indonesian or Korintje cinnamon) grown mainly in Indonesia and used widely as a kitchen spice. As a supplement, evidence for health benefits like blood sugar control is limited and mixed, and like other cassia cinnamons it naturally contains coumarin, which can be harmful to the liver in large amounts. Use food amounts freely, but talk to a pharmacist or doctor before taking concentrated cinnamon supplements.
