Ganaxolone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Padang Cassia interacts with.

In vitro research shows that a methanol extract of Padang cassia inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) activity. Theoretically, taking Padang cassia with CYP3A4 substrates might increase the effects and side effects of these substrates.

Ganaxolone (Ztalmy) is a seizure medicine that your liver clears largely through an enzyme called CYP3A4. Here's the theory behind this flag: lab studies suggest a concentrated extract of Padang cassia cinnamon can slow that same enzyme down. If it did that in real life, your body might break down ganaxolone a little slower, letting it build up. Since ganaxolone isn't a prodrug, more of it in your system would mean stronger effects, so you could feel extra drowsy, dizzy, or unsteady.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. It comes only from test-tube work, not from people, so we don't really know if it matters. Sprinkling cinnamon on your food is no concern. If you're thinking about concentrated cinnamon capsules, just check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
