Hydrocodone/Chlorpheniramine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Padang Cassia interacts with.

In vitro research shows that a methanol extract of Padang cassia inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) activity. Theoretically, taking Padang cassia with CYP3A4 substrates might increase the effects and side effects of these substrates.

Here's the gist for Tussionex (a combo of hydrocodone for cough and chlorpheniramine, an antihistamine). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear the hydrocodone. In a test-tube study, an extract of Padang cassia slowed that enzyme down a bit. If that happened in real life, the hydrocodone could hang around longer and feel stronger, meaning more drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, or slowed breathing, on top of the sleepiness chlorpheniramine already causes.

That said, this is only lab data, not human studies, so the real-world risk is uncertain. Sprinkling cinnamon on your oatmeal is no concern. Concentrated cinnamon supplements are the question mark. Since this medicine is an opioid, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
