Drug & supplement interaction

Padang Cassia + Pimecrolimus

Pimecrolimus brand name: Elidel.

No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Padang Cassia and Pimecrolimus in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.

Padang Cassia and Pimecrolimus

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Pimecrolimus and Padang Cassia in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Padang Cassia safety at a glance

Padang Cassia overall Use caution Generally safe as a food spice, but cassia cinnamons contain coumarin that may harm the liver in large or long-term supplement doses.
Pregnancy Use caution Food amounts are likely fine, but avoid concentrated supplement doses during pregnancy without medical advice.
Breastfeeding Use caution Food amounts are likely fine, but there is little safety data on supplement-level doses while breastfeeding.

Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Pimecrolimus

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Pimecrolimus is filed under a single classification — topical drugs. Padang Cassia has documented interactions with 3 drug classes — the most serious being antidiabetes drugs (moderate), cytochrome p450 3a4 (cyp3a4) substrates (moderate) and hepatotoxic drugs (moderate) — and none of Pimecrolimus’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What to actually watch for

No Interaction Found — But Data Suggests Padang Cassia and Pimecrolimus May Share a Side Effect

This is not an interaction. Neither one changes how your body handles the other, and nothing here says they react together. What our sources do show is that each has separately been linked to the effects below — so taking both can make those effects more likely to turn up, and harder to pin on one or the other if they do.

    Pimecrolimus

Listed in the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Pimecrolimus. Read the label on DailyMed ›

Reported for Padang Cassia but not commonly for Pimecrolimus: liver problems, stomach upset, a fast or pounding heartbeat and sweating.

Effects for Pimecrolimus come from the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of its FDA label; effects for Padang Cassia come from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record, quoted above. Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 1,600 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Pimecrolimus that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. Wording is matched across sources by our own clinical vocabulary, so treat this as a prompt to pay attention, not a diagnosis.

“Pimecrolimus (Elidel) is an eczema cream, applied to the skin rather than swallowed, so its supplement interactions are few and they follow one pattern. About Padang Cassia

What is Padang Cassia?

  • Adding flavor to food
  • Digestive upset
  • Blood sugar support
  • Antimicrobial purposes
  • Antioxidant support

Padang Cassia is a type of cinnamon (Indonesian or Korintje cinnamon) grown mainly in Indonesia and used widely as a kitchen spice. As a supplement, evidence for health benefits like blood sugar control is limited and mixed, and like other cassia cinnamons it naturally contains coumarin, which can be harmful to the liver in large amounts. Use food amounts freely, but talk to a pharmacist or doctor before taking concentrated cinnamon supplements.

Cinnamomum burmannii · Lauraceae · Inner bark (and bark-derived essential oil) · Ground spice, dried bark sticks (quills), capsules, powder, extract, essential oil, tea

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Padang Cassia is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Padang Cassia record says about it on its own.

Padang Cassia: dosing

There is no official, standardized dose of Padang Cassia for any health condition. Amounts used in studies vary widely and are not specific to this species. If you choose to use a cinnamon supplement, follow the directions on the product label and do not exceed the recommended amount. Because cassia cinnamons are higher in coumarin, it is wise to keep concentrated supplement doses low and to avoid taking them every day for long periods.Using Padang Cassia as a normal cooking spice is a low-risk way to enjoy it.
