In vitro research shows that a methanol extract of Padang cassia inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) activity. Theoretically, taking Padang cassia with CYP3A4 substrates might increase the effects and side effects of these substrates.

Here's the gist for Tepotinib (Tepmetko). Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear this cancer medication. Lab research suggests that concentrated Padang cassia (a cassia cinnamon) may slow that same enzyme down. If that happened in a real person, Tepotinib could build up a bit higher than expected, which might mean more of its known side effects, things like swelling in the legs or face, nausea, diarrhea, tiredness, or changes in liver blood tests.

I want to be honest about the strength here: this is only a test-tube finding, not something proven in people, so it's theoretical. Sprinkling cinnamon on your oatmeal is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated cinnamon capsules are the real question. Please run any supplement past your oncology team or pharmacist before starting it.

Tepmetko (tepotinib) is used to treat adults with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) — lung cancer that has spread — whose tumors carry a specific genetic alteration called a MET exon 14 skipping mutation. A test on tumor tissue or blood is required to confirm this mutation before treatment begins.

This is a targeted therapy, meaning it works against a specific molecular driver of cancer growth rather than attacking all rapidly dividing cells.
