These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Panax Notoginseng interacts with whole categories of medication. Acetaminophen, Caffeine, Chlorpheniramine, Hydrocodone, Phenylephrine falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Panax Notoginseng in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES
1 of 2Why this applies to Acetaminophen, Caffeine, Chlorpheniramine, Hydrocodone, Phenylephrine
Acetaminophen, Caffeine, Chlorpheniramine, Hydrocodone, Phenylephrine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Panax Notoginseng interacts with.
Animal research shows that administering Panax notoginseng intravenously for 7 days before intraperitoneal injection of caffeine can decrease maximal blood levels of caffeine by 37%. This interaction was attributed to the ability of Panax notoginseng to increase the activity of CYP1A2.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
This combination product (Hycomine Compound) includes caffeine, which your body clears using an enzyme called CYP1A2. Panax notoginseng may speed up that enzyme, so theoretically it could push caffeine out of your system a bit faster. In plain terms, you might notice slightly less of caffeine's usual lift, or fewer caffeine side effects like jitteriness or a racing feeling. The other ingredients (acetaminophen, chlorpheniramine, hydrocodone, phenylephrine) aren't really driven by this same enzyme, so they're less of a concern here.
Keep in mind this is based only on animal lab data, not human studies, so it's quite uncertain and likely minor. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing the two.

CAFFEINE
2 of 2Acetaminophen, Caffeine, Chlorpheniramine, Hydrocodone, Phenylephrine also falls under CAFFEINE.
Animal research shows that administering Panax notoginseng intravenously for 7 days before intraperitoneal injection of caffeine can decrease maximal blood levels of caffeine by 37%. This interaction is attributed to the ability of Panax notoginseng to increase the activity of cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) enzymes.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
This combination product has a lot going on, but the piece that interacts with Panax notoginseng is the caffeine. The herb seems to speed up a liver enzyme called CYP1A2, which is the main pathway your body uses to clear caffeine. In theory, that means caffeine could leave your system faster, so the little pick-me-up it provides might feel weaker. You'd be less likely to notice the usual perks like alertness or a slight energy boost.
Honestly, I wouldn't lose sleep over this one. The evidence comes only from animal studies using injected doses, not real people taking pills by mouth, so the everyday impact is uncertain. The other ingredients (acetaminophen, hydrocodone, chlorpheniramine, phenylephrine) aren't part of this interaction. Still, check with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them.
