Gilteritinib Fumarate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Passion Flower interacts with.

Theoretically, passion flower might decrease the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that passion flower can induce CYP3A4 enzymes, albeit to a much lower degree than rifampin, a known CYP3A4 inducer.

Here's the gist for Xospata (gilteritinib). Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear this leukemia medicine. In lab studies, passion flower appears to mildly speed up that enzyme. If that happened in real life, your body might break down gilteritinib a little faster, which could in theory lower its levels and make it work less well against the AML.

I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. It comes only from test-tube research, the effect was far weaker than known strong inducers, and it's rated a minor, theoretical concern. Still, with a cancer drug this important, you don't want to gamble. Please run passion flower by your oncologist or pharmacist before adding it.

What Is Gilteritinib Used For?

Brand name: Xospata

Xospata (gilteritinib) is used to treat adults with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) — a fast-growing blood cancer — when the cancer has come back after treatment (relapsed) or stopped responding to treatment (refractory). It is only for patients whose leukemia cells carry a specific genetic change called a FLT3 mutation, which must be confirmed by an FDA-approved test before starting treatment.
