Rabeprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Polypodium Leucotomos interacts with.

Theoretically, Polypodium leucotomos might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro and animal research suggests that Polypodium leucotomos can decrease the metabolism of midazolam by a mechanism possibly related to the inhibition of CYP3A4. However, a small study in humans suggests that taking Polypodium leucotomos with midazolam does not affect the metabolism of midazolam.

Here's the gist: rabeprazole (Pariet) is partly handled by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, and Polypodium leucotomos might, in theory, slow that enzyme down a touch. If that happened, a little more rabeprazole could linger in your system. In practice that would just mean slightly stronger acid-lowering, with the usual mild possibilities like headache, a bit of nausea, or loose stools.

Honestly, I wouldn't lose sleep over this one. The concern comes mostly from lab and animal work, and a small human study actually showed no real effect on a similar CYP3A4 drug. Rabeprazole also leans heavily on a different pathway (CYP2C19) anyway. Still, it's smart to mention any new supplement to your pharmacist so we can keep an eye on things.

What Is Rabeprazole Used For?

Rabeprazole delayed-release tablets treat a range of acid-related conditions in adults, including healing and maintenance of erosive or ulcerative GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), symptomatic GERD, duodenal ulcers, and pathological hypersecretory conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. They are also used alongside antibiotics (amoxicillin and clarithromycin) to eradicate H. pylori bacteria and reduce the risk of duodenal ulcer coming back.

In adolescents 12 years and older, rabeprazole delayed-release tablets are approved for short-term treatment of symptomatic GERD. Both AcipHex and Rabeprazole Sodium delayed-release tablets share this indication set for adults and adolescents 12 and older.
