Treprostinil falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Pu-erh Tea interacts with.

Theoretically, pu-erh tea may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Pu-erh tea contains caffeine. Caffeine is reported to have antiplatelet activity. Theoretically, the caffeine in pu-erh tea might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with antiplatelet drugs. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the thing to know about treprostinil (Orenitram): besides relaxing the blood vessels in your lungs, it also has a mild effect on platelets, the cells that help your blood clot. So on its own it can slightly nudge you toward easier bruising or bleeding. Pu-erh tea contains caffeine, and lab reports suggest caffeine may have a small anti-platelet effect too. Stack the two together and, in theory, you could see a bit more of that bleeding tendency.

That said, this is a theoretical concern based on lab work, not real-world reports in people, and a normal cup or two of tea is unlikely to cause trouble. Still, watch for unusual bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated pu-erh supplements.

Pu-erh tea is a fermented, aged form of tea made from the same plant as green and black tea. It is enjoyed worldwide as a beverage and is sometimes promoted for weight loss, cholesterol, and digestion, but human evidence for these uses is limited. As a normal drink it is generally well tolerated, though it does contain caffeine.

About Treprostinil

What Is Treprostinil Used For?

Treprostinil treats pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH; WHO Group 1) — high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs. Depending on the product and route, it is used to improve exercise ability, delay disease progression, or reduce symptoms tied to physical activity. Remodulin and treprostinil injection products are also indicated for patients who need to transition away from another PAH medicine called epoprostenol.

Tyvaso, Tyvaso DPI, and Yutrepia (inhaled forms) are additionally approved to treat pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD; WHO Group 3) — lung-pressure problems caused by scarring or inflammation in the lung tissue itself. Orenitram (extended-release oral tablet) is specifically indicated to delay disease progression and improve exercise capacity in PAH.
