No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Quassia and Triamcinolone in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.

Quassia and Triamcinolone

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Triamcinolone and Quassia in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Triamcinolone

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Triamcinolone is filed under 5 classifications — including corticosteroids, immunosuppressants, topical drugs. Quassia has documented interactions with 6 drug classes — the most serious being antidiabetes drugs (moderate), digoxin (lanoxin) (moderate) and diuretic drugs (moderate) — and none of Triamcinolone’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What to actually watch for

No Interaction Found — But Data Suggests Quassia and Triamcinolone May Share Several of the Same Side Effects

This is not an interaction. Neither one changes how your body handles the other, and nothing here says they react together. What our sources do show is that each has separately been linked to the effects below — so taking both can make those effects more likely to turn up, and harder to pin on one or the other if they do. One of them is worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

Reported for Quassia but not commonly for Triamcinolone: blurred vision and vomiting.

Effects for Triamcinolone come from the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of its FDA label; effects for Quassia come from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record, quoted above. Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 30,525 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Triamcinolone that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. Wording is matched across sources by our own clinical vocabulary, so treat this as a prompt to pay attention, not a diagnosis.

About Quassia

What is Quassia?

  • Loss of appetite
  • Digestive upset
  • Head lice (topical)
  • Intestinal worms/parasites
  • Bitter tonic

Quassia is a tropical wood known for its very bitter taste, traditionally used as a digestive bitter and as a folk remedy for parasites and head lice. Human evidence for these uses is limited, and high doses may irritate the stomach, so it should be used cautiously and avoided in pregnancy.

Quassia amara · Simaroubaceae · Wood (bark and stem wood) · Dried wood chips, tea/infusion, liquid extract, tincture, capsules, and topical lotions

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Quassia is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Quassia record says about it on its own.

Quassia: dosing

There is no well-established, standardized dose for quassia. Traditional preparations include a bitter tea made from a small amount of wood chips, as well as tinctures and capsules.Because the strength of products varies and reliable dosing studies are lacking, follow the directions on the product label and use the lowest amount that works. Avoid large or long-term doses.

About Triamcinolone

What Is Triamcinolone Used For?

Brand names: Aristocort, Kenacort, Adcortyl Intra-articular / Intradermal, Kenalog Intra-articular / Intramuscular, Adcortyl in Orabase, Triesence

Triamcinolone is available in many forms — injections, creams, ointments, nasal sprays, dental pastes, and eye injections — each approved for specific uses. Injectable forms given into muscle are used when oral steroids aren't an option, covering severe allergies (like asthma flares, severe skin reactions, drug reactions, and serum sickness), serious skin diseases, certain endocrine (hormonal) disorders, and more.

Injections given directly into a joint (intra-articular) or soft tissue help with conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, gout flares, bursitis, and tendon inflammation. Injections into skin lesions (intralesional) treat conditions such as keloids, alopecia areata, and psoriatic plaques. Triesence (an ophthalmic injection) is specifically indicated for eye conditions like uveitis and temporal arteritis, and for visualization during eye surgery. Topical creams, ointments, lotions, and sprays relieve itching and inflammation from corticosteroid-responsive skin conditions. Dental paste forms (Oralone, Kourzeq) treat painful mouth sores from injury. Nasal sprays temporarily relieve hay fever and upper respiratory allergy symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, and congestion.

Do Quassia and Triamcinolone have any of the same side effects?
Yes — our sources link each of them separately to 2 of the same effects. That is not an interaction: neither changes how your body handles the other. How was the Quassia and Triamcinolone combination checked?
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes. Triamcinolone is filed under 5 classifications, and Quassia has documented interactions with 6 drug classes — none of Triamcinolone's classifications are among them. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded in our dataset, so this describes how the check was run rather than guaranteeing safety.
Does Quassia interact with any other medications?
Yes. Quassia has 198 documented drug interactions in our database — Triamcinolone is simply not one of them. If you take anything else, it is worth checking each one; they are all listed on this page.
