Rabdosia Rubescens + Aprepitant
Aprepitant brand names: Emend, Cinvanti.
Rabdosia Rubescens has a moderate interaction with Aprepitant. In vitro research shows that oridonin, a constituent of Rabdosia rubescens, induces cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) enzyme.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Aprepitant
Aprepitant falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Rabdosia Rubescens interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with aprepitant (Emend, Cinvanti). Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break this medicine down. In lab and animal studies, a compound in Rabdosia rubescens called oridonin seems to speed that enzyme up. If the same thing happens in people, your body could clear aprepitant faster than usual, leaving less of it in your system.
Since aprepitant's whole job is to prevent nausea and vomiting after chemotherapy, weaker levels could mean it doesn't work as well, and the queasiness or vomiting you were trying to avoid might break through. I want to be honest though: this concern comes only from test-tube and animal data and hasn't been seen in real patients. Given how important controlling chemo nausea is, please run any herbal supplement by your oncology team or pharmacist first.
What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Aprepitant page
“Aprepitant (Emend, Cinvanti) keeps chemotherapy patients from vomiting, so a supplement that undoes it mid-cycle is a problem, and I read this list with genuine vigilance. Nearly all 158 entries touch CYP3A4, the liver enzyme that clears aprepitant.”
