Here's the gist for amlodipine, which is your blood pressure and chest pain medicine. Rauwolscine, the stimulant found in some fat-burner and pre-workout products, has been shown in lab dish studies to relax blood vessels in a way that's a little like what amlodipine already does. The worry is that the two could stack up and lower your blood pressure more than expected.

If that happened, you might notice things amlodipine can already cause, like dizziness, lightheadedness when you stand, flushing, or ankle swelling. Keep in mind this is only a theoretical concern from test-tube work, not real patient reports, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, rauwolscine itself can push up heart rate and blood pressure and trigger anxiety, which is its own issue. Please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Rauwolscine (alpha-yohimbine) is a stimulant alkaloid closely related to yohimbine that is marketed mainly in fat-burning and pre-workout supplements. Human evidence for its benefits is very limited, and it can raise heart rate and blood pressure and cause anxiety, so it should be used with caution and is not recommended for people with heart conditions, anxiety, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

What Is Amlodipine Used For?

Brand name: Norliqva

Amlodipine treats high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children aged 6–17 years. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks. Sdamlo (oral solution) is specifically indicated for hypertension in adults and pediatric patients 6 years of age and older.

Amlodipine also treats coronary artery disease in adults, including chronic stable angina (chest pain with exertion), vasospastic angina (Prinzmetal's or variant angina, caused by coronary artery spasms), and documented coronary artery disease in patients without heart failure or significantly reduced heart pumping function.
