Aristada (aripiprazole lauroxil) is a long-acting injection used to treat schizophrenia. Like many antipsychotics, it can slightly lower the seizure threshold, meaning it can make seizures a little more likely in people who are prone to them. Rauwolscine, a stimulant found in some fat-burner and pre-workout products, may do the same thing. Stacking two things that nudge the threshold in the same direction is the concern here.

I'll be honest with you though: this warning comes only from animal lab research, not from people, so the real-world risk is uncertain and likely low for most folks. Still, rauwolscine itself can raise heart rate, blood pressure, and anxiety, which aren't great alongside an antipsychotic. Please run this combination by your pharmacist or prescriber before mixing them.

Rauwolscine is structurally related to yohimbine. In vitro research shows that yohimbine inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity.

Here's the gist for your Aristada shots. Your body clears aripiprazole largely through a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Rauwolscine is a cousin of yohimbine, and lab studies suggest yohimbine can slow that same enzyme down. If CYP2D6 is blocked, aripiprazole could clear more slowly and build up in your system, which may bump up side effects like restlessness, sleepiness, dizziness, tremor, or feeling jittery.

I want to be honest about the strength here: this concern is theoretical, based on test-tube data, not real-world reports. So it's a reason to be thoughtful, not alarmed. Since rauwolscine itself can raise heart rate and anxiety, please run this combo by your doctor or pharmacist before adding it.

Aripiprazole injection is used to treat schizophrenia and to provide maintenance treatment for bipolar I disorder in adults. Different injectable products carry these approvals.

Abilify Asimtufii is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults and as maintenance monotherapy for bipolar I disorder in adults. Aristada is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults, with Aristada Initio used specifically to help start Aristada therapy.
