Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the thing to keep in mind if you take lercanidipine (Zanidip) and reach for a fat-burner or pre-workout with rauwolscine in it. Lercanidipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes your blood vessels to lower blood pressure. Lab studies suggest rauwolscine can also relax blood vessels in a similar way, so in theory the two together might add up and drop your blood pressure a bit more than expected. That could mean dizziness, lightheadedness, flushing, or a faster heartbeat.

I want to be honest though: this is based only on test-tube and animal data, so it's more of a theoretical concern than something proven in people. Rauwolscine is also a stimulant that can push blood pressure up, so the real-world effect is unpredictable. Just run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Rauwolscine (alpha-yohimbine) is a stimulant alkaloid closely related to yohimbine that is marketed mainly in fat-burning and pre-workout supplements. Human evidence for its benefits is very limited, and it can raise heart rate and blood pressure and cause anxiety, so it should be used with caution and is not recommended for people with heart conditions, anxiety, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
