Rauwolscine + Perphenazine
Perphenazine brand name: Trilafon.
Perphenazine falls into 2 drug categories that Rauwolscine can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, taking rauwolscine with seizure threshold lowering drugs might increase the risk of adverse convulsant effects.

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Rauwolscine interacts with whole categories of medication. Perphenazine falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Rauwolscine in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
SEIZURE THRESHOLD LOWERING DRUGS
1 of 2Why this applies to Perphenazine
Perphenazine falls under SEIZURE THRESHOLD LOWERING DRUGS — the group Rauwolscine interacts with.
In animal research, intraperitoneal rauwolscine lowered the seizure threshold level of the drug metrazol.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: perphenazine (Trilafon) is an older antipsychotic that can, on its own, slightly lower the seizure threshold, meaning it can make the brain a little more prone to seizures in sensitive people. Rauwolscine is a stimulant that, at least in animal studies, also nudged the seizure threshold downward. Put the two together and the worry is that those small effects could add up and raise seizure risk.
I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. The evidence is theoretical and comes from lab and animal research, not from people, so for most folks this is more of a caution than a red alert. Still, because rauwolscine can also spike heart rate, blood pressure, and anxiety, I'd run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Perphenazine also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES.
Rauwolscine is structurally related to yohimbine. In vitro research shows that yohimbine inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with perphenazine (Trilafon) and rauwolscine. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to clear perphenazine out of your system. Rauwolscine is a cousin of yohimbine, and in lab studies yohimbine slows that same enzyme down. If rauwolscine does the same thing, perphenazine could build up a bit more than expected.
In plain terms, that might mean stronger side effects from this antipsychotic, like drowsiness, dizziness, low blood pressure when standing, or muscle stiffness and restlessness. Keep in mind this is theoretical, based only on lab data, not real-world reports, so I don't want to alarm you. Still, before pairing a stimulant supplement with perphenazine, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

Rauwolscine (alpha-yohimbine) is a stimulant alkaloid closely related to yohimbine that is marketed mainly in fat-burning and pre-workout supplements.
