Rauwolscine and Pseudoephedrine Sulfate

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.

Moderate

STIMULANT DRUGS

Why this applies to Pseudoephedrine Sulfate

Pseudoephedrine Sulfate falls under STIMULANT DRUGS — the group Rauwolscine interacts with.

Theoretically, taking rauwolscine with stimulant drugs might increase the risk of adverse stimulant effects.
Rauwolscine has demonstrated stimulant effects in animal research.
Severity Moderate Likelihood Possible Evidence D

Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.

Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the simple version: both of these can rev up your body in the same direction. Pseudoephedrine already narrows blood vessels and nudges your heart rate and blood pressure up to clear a stuffy nose. Rauwolscine acts as a stimulant too, raising norepinephrine, your body's natural "go" chemical. Stack them together and you may notice more of pseudoephedrine's familiar side effects, like a racing or pounding heart, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, anxiety, or a bump in blood pressure.

I'll be honest, this concern is mostly theoretical and based on animal data, so it isn't a sure thing. Still, two stimulants at once is worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor first, especially if you have any heart issues or high blood pressure.
