A review of adverse event reports in Poland identified cases of excessive sedation, myoclonus, hypotension, and hallucinations when rhodiola was taken with haloperidol, diazepam, or alprazolam.

Here's the short version: Horizant (gabapentin enacarbil) can make you drowsy and slow you down a bit, which is part of how it calms restless legs. Rhodiola is usually thought of as an energizing herb, but a small number of reports from Poland linked it to extra sedation, low blood pressure, and even hallucinations when people combined it with other calming medicines. So the worry here is that pairing the two might stack up that sleepy, foggy effect.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. This is theoretical and based on a few scattered case reports, not solid studies, and it's rated minor. Most people won't run into trouble. Still, if you notice more dizziness, unsteadiness, or feeling unusually out of it, that's worth paying attention to. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Rhodiola so they can look at your full list.

About Gabapentin

What Is Gabapentin Used For?

Brand name: Horizant

Gabapentin (brands include Neurontin, Relgaabi, Gabarone, Gralise, and Horizant) is primarily used to manage postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) — the nerve pain that lingers after a shingles outbreak — in adults. Neurontin, Relgaabi, Gabarone, and gabapentin capsules, tablets, and oral solution are also used as add-on therapy for partial onset seizures (a type of epilepsy) in adults and children aged 3 and older.

Horizant (gabapentin enacarbil extended-release tablet) has two specific approvals: treatment of moderate-to-severe primary restless legs syndrome (RLS) in adults, and management of postherpetic neuralgia in adults. Horizant is not recommended for people who need to sleep during the day and stay awake at night. Gralise is approved only for postherpetic neuralgia and cannot be substituted for other gabapentin products due to its different release profile.
