A review of adverse event reports in Poland identified cases of excessive sedation, myoclonus, hypotension, and hallucinations when rhodiola was taken with haloperidol, diazepam, or alprazolam.

Here's the gist for Vigabatrin (Sabril): this isn't really about your liver breaking down the drug. Vigabatrin works by calming overactive electrical signals in the brain, so it can already cause drowsiness, tiredness, or feeling foggy. Rhodiola is mainly an energizing herb, but the concern on file is a theoretical one, that pairing it with calming or sedating medicines might lead to extra side effects like too much sedation, dizziness, low blood pressure, or unusual movements.

To be honest, this is a minor interaction backed only by a handful of anecdotal reports, not strong studies, and none involving Vigabatrin directly. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but since Vigabatrin is a seizure medicine, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Rhodiola.

Rhodiola is an herb traditionally used to fight fatigue and help the body cope with stress. Some small studies suggest it may modestly reduce fatigue and improve mood, but the evidence is limited and not strong. About Vigabatrin

What Is Vigabatrin Used For?

Brand name: Sabril

Vigabatrin is used to treat two types of seizure conditions. For refractory complex partial seizures (seizures that have not responded well to other treatments), vigabatrin oral solution and tablets are used as an add-on therapy in patients 2 years of age and older — it is not a first-line treatment. Sabril, Vigadrone, and vigabatrin-branded products carry this indication.

For infantile spasms — a specific type of seizure disorder in very young children — vigabatrin oral solution is used as a standalone (monotherapy) treatment in infants 1 month to 2 years of age. Vigafyde oral solution is indicated specifically for infantile spasms monotherapy in this same age group. In all cases, treatment is only appropriate when the potential benefits outweigh the risk of permanent vision loss.
