Ethinyl Estradiol, Norgestimate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Schizonepeta interacts with.

Animal research suggests that schizonepetin, a monoterpene constituent of schizonepeta, inhibits cytochrome P450 (CYP) 1A2. Theoretically, schizonepeta might increase the effects and side effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
Some substrates of CYP1A2 include clozapine (Clozaril), cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril), fluvoxamine (Luvox), haloperidol (Haldol), imipramine (Tofranil), mexiletine (Mexitil), olanzapine (Zyprexa), pentazocine (Talwin), propranolol (Inderal), tacrine (Cognex), theophylline, zileuton (Zyflo), zolmitriptan (Zomig), and others.

Here's the gist for your birth control pill (Ortho Tri-Cyclen and similar). One compound in Schizonepeta has, in animal and test-tube studies only, slowed down a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. The thinking is that if that enzyme gets blocked, a medicine it normally clears could build up a bit and cause stronger effects or side effects. With your pill, that might mean a little more estrogen-type effect, things like nausea, breast tenderness, bloating, or headache.

I want to be honest: this is a theoretical, weak-evidence concern, and your pill is only partly handled by this enzyme. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but I also wouldn't lean on a concentrated supplement long-term without checking first. Run it past your pharmacist or doctor so they can look at your full medication list.

Animal research suggests that schizonepetin, a monoterpene constituent of schizonepeta, induces cytochrome P450 (CYP) 3A4. Theoretically, schizonepeta might decrease the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Some substrates of CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.

Here's the gist for your birth control pill (Ortho Tri-Cyclen and similar combos contain ethinyl estradiol with norgestimate). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break these hormones down. Animal studies hint that a compound in Schizonepeta may speed up that enzyme. If that happened in people, your body could clear the hormones a little faster, which in theory might lower the hormone levels that keep the pill working.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this is only lab and animal data, so it's quite uncertain and may not matter at all in real life. Still, because a weaker pill could mean breakthrough bleeding or, at worst, reduced pregnancy protection, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them. Don't change anything on your own.
