Ibrutinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Schizonepeta interacts with.

Animal research suggests that schizonepetin, a monoterpene constituent of schizonepeta, induces cytochrome P450 (CYP) 3A4. Theoretically, schizonepeta might decrease the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Some substrates of CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.

Here's the gist: your ibrutinib (Imbruvica) is processed by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab and animal studies hint that a compound in Schizonepeta may speed up that enzyme. If it does the same in people, your body could clear ibrutinib a little faster, leaving lower levels in your blood. For a cancer medicine, weaker levels could mean it doesn't work as well as it should, which is the real worry here.

The good news is this is only theoretical, based on cells and animals, not proven in humans. Still, because ibrutinib treats serious conditions, I wouldn't want to gamble. Please check with your oncologist or pharmacist before adding Schizonepeta, just to be safe.

What Is Ibrutinib Used For?

Brand name: Imbruvica

Imbruvica (ibrutinib) is used in adults to treat chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL), including cases with a specific genetic change called 17p deletion. It is also used in adults to treat Waldenström's macroglobulinemia (WM), a rare type of slow-growing blood cancer.

Imbruvica is also approved for adults and children aged 1 year and older with chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) — a serious immune complication that can occur after a stem cell or bone marrow transplant — when at least one prior treatment has not worked.
