Progesterone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Schizonepeta interacts with.

Animal research suggests that schizonepetin, a monoterpene constituent of schizonepeta, induces cytochrome P450 (CYP) 3A4. Theoretically, schizonepeta might decrease the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Some substrates of CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.

Here's the gist with Schizonepeta and your progesterone. Your body clears progesterone using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Animal studies hint that a compound in this herb may speed that enzyme up. If that happened in people, your progesterone could get broken down a little faster, which might leave you with less of it working in your body.

In practice, that could mean weaker protection for your uterine lining or a return of symptoms the hormone is meant to control. But I want to be honest: this is only theoretical, based on lab and animal data, not human studies. The signal is weak. Still, since progesterone matters for your health, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

About Progesterone

What Is Progesterone Used For?

Brand name: Milprosa

Progesterone capsules (including Prometrium) are used to prevent endometrial hyperplasia (abnormal thickening of the uterine lining) in postmenopausal women with a uterus who are taking estrogen, and to treat secondary amenorrhea (missed periods not caused by pregnancy).

Progesterone injection is indicated for amenorrhea and abnormal uterine bleeding caused by a hormonal imbalance. Crinone vaginal gel is used as part of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) for progesterone supplementation or replacement, and Crinone 4% is also indicated for secondary amenorrhea. Vaginal inserts — including Endometrin and other progesterone vaginal insert products — are used to support embryo implantation and early pregnancy as part of an ART treatment program for infertile women.
