Ethinyl estradiol, Levonogestrel falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Spearmint interacts with.

Theoretically, high doses of spearmint might increase the risk of liver damage when taken with hepatotoxic drugs.
Animal research suggests that drinking spearmint tea for 30 days can increase markers of liver damage, including aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and cause liver degeneration and necrosis, in a dose-dependent manner. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the short version: birth control pills like Lybrel, which combine ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel, are processed by your liver. There's a theory that very high, concentrated doses of spearmint could add a little extra stress to the liver, so combining the two might raise the chance of liver irritation. In real life, this concern comes only from animal studies where rodents drank spearmint tea for a month and showed higher liver enzymes (AST and ALT). It has not been seen in people.

The everyday takeaway: enjoying spearmint in food or a normal cup of tea is very unlikely to cause any trouble with your pill. The caution is really about strong supplement doses. If you take concentrated spearmint regularly, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on things.
