Spearmint + Lorazepam
Lorazepam brand name: Ativan.
Spearmint has a moderate interaction with Lorazepam. Theoretically, spearmint might alter the sedative effects of CNS depressants.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Lorazepam
Lorazepam falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Spearmint interacts with.
Animal research suggests that (-)-carvone, a major constituent of spearmint, has sedative effects. However, in humans, chewing spearmint-flavored gum induced arousal effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the honest picture: lorazepam (Ativan) already calms brain activity to ease anxiety and help with sleep. The concern with spearmint is that one of its compounds, carvone, showed mild sedative effects in animal studies, so in theory it could add a little to lorazepam's drowsiness, dizziness, or that foggy, relaxed feeling. Interestingly, the opposite has shown up in people too. Folks chewing spearmint gum actually felt more alert, so the human evidence points in different directions.
This is a theoretical interaction only, and food or tea amounts of spearmint are very unlikely to matter. If you're using a concentrated spearmint supplement alongside Ativan, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor, and watch for extra sleepiness.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Lorazepam page
“Lorazepam (Ativan) works by slowing brain activity, and that is exactly why this list deserves real caution. Of the 119 supplement and herbal ingredients on file, 78 are themselves nervous-system depressants, so adding them can deepen drowsiness or, at the extreme, slow breathing.”

About Spearmint
What is Spearmint?
- Digestive upset and indigestion
- Nausea
- Hormonal acne and unwanted hair (PCOS-related)
- Memory and focus
- Mild stress and anxiety
- Joint discomfort
Spearmint is a common culinary mint that is generally safe in food and tea amounts. Early research suggests possible benefits for digestion, mild hormone-related issues (such as excess facial hair in women), and memory, but the evidence is still limited. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated supplements, especially if you are pregnant or have a health condition.
About Lorazepam
What Is Lorazepam Used For?
Brand name: Ativan
Lorazepam tablets (Ativan and generic) and the oral solution are used to manage anxiety disorders or for short-term relief of anxiety symptoms, including anxiety that comes with depressive symptoms. Loreev XR, an extended-release capsule, is specifically indicated for adults with anxiety disorders who are already stable on lorazepam tablets taken three times daily.
Ativan and generic lorazepam injections are used in two additional situations: treating status epilepticus (a medical emergency involving prolonged or repeated seizures) and as a pre-surgery medication in adults to produce sedation, ease anxiety, and reduce memory of events on the day of surgery.

Lorazepam Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Lorazepam as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Spearmint — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
