Segesterone Acetate, Ethinyl Estradiol falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Sulforaphane interacts with.

Theoretically, sulforaphane might alter the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
Animal and in vitro research shows that sulforaphane inhibits CYP1A2 enzyme activity. However, its precursor glucoraphanin also appears to increase the expression of the CYP1A2 enzyme, which could lead to increased metabolism of CYP1A2 substrates. These effects have not been reported in humans.

Annovera is a vaginal ring that releases two active hormones, segesterone acetate and ethinyl estradiol, to prevent pregnancy. The ethinyl estradiol part is partly handled by a liver enzyme called CYP1A2, which is the same enzyme sulforaphane seems to touch in lab and animal studies. The tricky part is the research points in two directions: sulforaphane may slow this enzyme (which could nudge hormone levels up and bring more estrogen-type side effects like nausea, breast tenderness, or headache), while its precursor may speed it up (which could lower hormone levels).

Here's the reassuring news: none of this has actually been seen in people, and normal broccoli or cruciferous vegetables in your diet are very unlikely to matter. If you're considering a concentrated sulforaphane supplement, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first so nothing affects your birth control.

Annovera is a vaginal ring that slowly releases two hormones, segesterone and ethinyl estradiol. Your liver clears these hormones partly through an enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab and animal studies, sulforaphane appears to slow that enzyme down. In theory, that could let a bit more estrogen and progestin linger in your system, which might mean more of the usual hormonal side effects like nausea, breast tenderness, bloating, headaches, or spotting.

The honest truth here: this has only been seen in test tubes and animals, never confirmed in people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Eating broccoli and other crucifers is completely fine. If you take a concentrated sulforaphane supplement, just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up so they can keep an eye on things.
