Here's the gist of this one: it's really about how well your body soaks up the thyroid hormone, not about the barbiturate itself. Tuinal (amobarbital with secobarbital) is a sleep and sedative medicine, and taking it alongside thyroid extract may sit in your stomach at the same time and slightly cut down how much thyroid hormone gets absorbed. It's rated minor, so for most people this is a timing issue more than a danger.

The practical fix is simple: take your thyroid product on an empty stomach and space other pills, like your Tuinal, at least 30 to 60 minutes apart. That keeps the thyroid working as intended. Since both can affect how alert or drowsy you feel, and these supplements aren't standardized, please run your routine by your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.
