This combination cold product has one ingredient worth flagging: dextromethorphan, the cough suppressant. Your body relies on an enzyme called CYP2D6 to clear it. The berberine in tree turmeric may slow that enzyme down, which could let dextromethorphan build up a bit higher than usual. In real life that might mean more drowsiness, dizziness, or that floaty, foggy feeling some people get from cough syrups.
Keep in mind this is mostly theoretical, based on lab work and only early human evidence, so it may not amount to much for the average person. The other ingredients (acetaminophen, chlorpheniramine, phenylpropanolamine) aren't the main concern here. Still, if you take tree turmeric regularly, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist before pairing them.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES

In vitro research and preliminary clinical evidence suggest that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, moderately inhibits CYP3A4.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the gist of this combo. The berberine in tree turmeric can gently slow down a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, and one ingredient in this cold product, dextromethorphan (the cough suppressant), is partly cleared that way. If it clears more slowly, levels can creep up, which might mean more drowsiness, dizziness, or feeling foggy or restless.
The good news is this is a modest, mostly theoretical effect, and an occasional dose for a few days of a cold is unlikely to cause big trouble for most people. Still, the antihistamine (chlorpheniramine) already makes you sleepy, so the sedation could stack up. If you use tree turmeric regularly, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

This combination cold product contains dextromethorphan, the cough suppressant, and that is the piece tree turmeric may bump into. Berberine, the active compound in tree turmeric, appears to slow down a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 that helps your body break down dextromethorphan. If that clearance slows, dextromethorphan can build up a bit higher than usual.
In real life, that mostly means a higher chance of feeling extra drowsy, foggy, dizzy, or irritable. The evidence here is fairly preliminary, so it is not a guaranteed problem, but it is worth knowing. Since this product already has an antihistamine (chlorpheniramine) that also causes sleepiness, the effects could stack. If you take berberine regularly, check with your pharmacist before pairing it with this cold medicine.
