The product you're asking about combines aspirin with oxycodone, an opioid pain reliever. The opioid part already causes drowsiness, slowed breathing, and that foggy, sleepy feeling, especially when you first start it. Tree turmeric (berberine) may add a mild sedative effect of its own, so in theory the two together could leave you feeling more drowsy or out of it than oxycodone alone.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this concern comes only from animal studies, not human data, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Still, it's reasonable to be careful. If you notice extra sleepiness, please don't stop anything on your own. Just check in with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Here's the thing with Percodan (a combo of aspirin and oxycodone): the oxycodone part is handled in part by a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Tree turmeric, thanks to its berberine, may gently block that enzyme. When CYP2D6 is slowed, oxycodone can hang around a bit longer, so its effects (and side effects) may feel stronger than usual. Think more drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, nausea, or in larger amounts slowed breathing.

I'll be honest, this is mostly theoretical and based on lab work plus some early human data, so it may not amount to much for everyone. Still, since oxycodone is an opioid, I'd play it safe and check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing the two.

The combination pill you're asking about (Percodan) pairs aspirin with oxycodone for pain. The piece that matters here is the aspirin, which already thins the blood a little by keeping your platelets from clumping together. Berberine, the active part of tree turmeric, appears to do something similar in lab and animal studies, so stacking the two could add up and nudge your bleeding risk upward.

In real life that might look like easier bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or stomach upset that's slow to stop. I want to be honest though: this is based only on test-tube and animal research, so it's more of a theoretical concern than a proven one. Before adding tree turmeric, check with your pharmacist or doctor.
