Brentuximab Vedotin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Tree Turmeric interacts with.

Theoretically, tree turmeric might increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs that are substrates of CYP3A4.
In vitro research and preliminary clinical evidence suggest that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, moderately inhibits CYP3A4.

Here's the gist: brentuximab vedotin (Adcetris) is a chemotherapy drug whose active piece, called MMAE, is cleared mostly by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. The berberine in tree turmeric can slow that enzyme down. If the enzyme works slower, the drug can build up higher than expected in your body.

With a chemo agent like this, more drug in your system can mean rougher side effects, things like worsening numbness or tingling in your hands and feet (neuropathy), low blood counts, infections, nausea, or fatigue. Keep in mind this is mostly a theoretical, lab-based concern, not something proven in people taking these two together. Still, because chemo leaves little room for surprises, please don't add tree turmeric or berberine without first checking with your oncology team or pharmacist.

What Is Brentuximab Vedotin Injection Used For?

Brand name: Adcetris

Adcetris (brentuximab vedotin) is used to treat classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) in adults — including newly diagnosed advanced-stage disease, as consolidation therapy after a stem cell transplant, and in relapsed or refractory cases. It is also approved for pediatric patients aged 2 and older with previously untreated high-risk classical Hodgkin lymphoma, given in combination with chemotherapy.

Adcetris is also used for several T-cell lymphomas — including systemic anaplastic large cell lymphoma (sALCL), peripheral T-cell lymphomas (PTCL), primary cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma (pcALCL), and CD30-expressing mycosis fungoides (MF). Additionally, Adcetris is used in combination with lenalidomide and a rituximab product for adults with relapsed or refractory large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL) who are not candidates for a stem cell transplant or CAR T-cell therapy.
