Auvelity is a combo pill of dextromethorphan and bupropion, and this pairing is designed on purpose. The bupropion piece blocks the liver enzyme CYP2D6 so that more dextromethorphan stays active in your body, which is what gives the antidepressant effect. Berberine, the main active compound in tree turmeric, may also slow that same CYP2D6 enzyme, based mostly on lab work and some early human studies.

If you stack tree turmeric on top, dextromethorphan levels could climb a bit higher than intended. That might mean more dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, or restlessness. The evidence here is fairly weak and theoretical, so don't panic, but please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them rather than adjusting anything on your own.

Auvelity combines dextromethorphan with bupropion, and the bupropion piece is there on purpose. Bupropion blocks an enzyme called CYP2D6, which slows how your body clears dextromethorphan so it stays around long enough to work on your mood. Both of these are also handled in part by CYP3A4. Berberine, the active part of tree turmeric, can mildly slow CYP3A4.

In practice, that could nudge your levels a little higher, which may mean more side effects like dizziness, nausea, dry mouth, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, or a faster heartbeat. The clinical effect here is likely modest, and food amounts are not a concern. Still, since this is a concentrated supplement, check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Theoretically, tree turmeric might increase levels of dextromethorphan and potentially increase the risk of adverse effects including drowsiness, confusion, and irritability.
Preliminary clinical research suggests that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, can inhibit cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) activity and reduce the metabolism of dextromethorphan.

Auvelity is a combination of dextromethorphan and bupropion, and here's a neat detail: the bupropion piece is actually there on purpose to block an enzyme called CYP2D6, which keeps dextromethorphan levels higher in your body. Tree turmeric (through its berberine) appears to block that same enzyme. So stacking it on top could push dextromethorphan levels up a bit more than intended.

In real life that might mean more dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, or feeling jittery or irritable. This is mostly a theoretical concern based on early, lower-quality research, so I wouldn't panic. Still, since two things are nudging the same enzyme, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding tree turmeric.
