Eprosartan falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Tree Turmeric interacts with.

Theoretically, taking tree turmeric along with antihypertensive drugs might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research suggests that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, can have hypotensive effects. Also, a meta-analysis of clinical research suggests that taking berberine in combination with amlodipine (Norvasc) can lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure when compared with taking amlodipine alone.

Here's the simple version: eprosartan (Teveten) already lowers your blood pressure, and tree turmeric (thanks to its berberine) may nudge blood pressure down too. Stack them together and the effects can add up, so your pressure could drop a little more than you expect. That can leave you feeling dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or shaky, especially when you stand up quickly.

One honest caveat: this concern mostly comes from animal studies and a small amount of human research with other blood pressure pills, so it's more of a theoretical, gentle flag than a proven problem. It doesn't mean you can't use both. If you do, check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and keep an eye on your blood pressure readings at home.

What Is Eprosartan Used For?

  • Eprosartan is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure. Eprosartan is in a class of medications called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It works by blocking the action of certain natural substances that tighten the blood vessels, allowing the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently.

  • High blood pressure is a common condition, and when not treated it can cause damage to the brain, heart, blood vessels, kidneys, and other parts of the body. Damage to these organs may cause heart disease, a heart attack, heart failure, stroke, kidney failure, loss of vision, and other problems. In addition to taking medication, making lifestyle changes will also help to control your blood pressure. These changes include eating a diet that is low in fat and salt, maintaining a healthy weight, exercising at least 30 minutes most days, not smoking, and using alcohol in moderation.
