Here's the gist: Horizant (gabapentin enacarbil) already tends to make people feel drowsy, lightheaded, or a bit unsteady on their feet. Tree turmeric, thanks to its berberine, has shown sedative (sleepy) effects too, but only in animal studies. So the concern is simple addition: putting two calming things together could leave you more sleepy, dizzy, or foggy than either one alone.

I want to be straight with you, this is a theoretical caution based on lab and animal data, not strong human proof. Food amounts of turmeric in cooking are very unlikely to matter; concentrated berberine supplements are where I'd pay more attention. If you take both, watch for extra drowsiness and don't drive until you know how you feel. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting the supplement.

About Gabapentin

What Is Gabapentin Used For?

Brand name: Horizant

Gabapentin (brands include Neurontin, Relgaabi, Gabarone, Gralise, and Horizant) is primarily used to manage postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) — the nerve pain that lingers after a shingles outbreak — in adults. Neurontin, Relgaabi, Gabarone, and gabapentin capsules, tablets, and oral solution are also used as add-on therapy for partial onset seizures (a type of epilepsy) in adults and children aged 3 and older.

Horizant (gabapentin enacarbil extended-release tablet) has two specific approvals: treatment of moderate-to-severe primary restless legs syndrome (RLS) in adults, and management of postherpetic neuralgia in adults. Horizant is not recommended for people who need to sleep during the day and stay awake at night. Gralise is approved only for postherpetic neuralgia and cannot be substituted for other gabapentin products due to its different release profile.
