These two interact in 3 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 3 Interactions?
Tree Turmeric interacts with whole categories of medication. Guaifenesin, Hydrocodone Bitartrate, Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride falls into 3 of those categories, so it can interact with Tree Turmeric in 3 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CNS DEPRESSANTS
1 of 3Why this applies to Guaifenesin, Hydrocodone Bitartrate, Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride
Guaifenesin, Hydrocodone Bitartrate, Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Tree Turmeric interacts with.
Animal research suggests that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, can have sedative effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Your Hycofenix combo contains hydrocodone, an opioid that can make you drowsy and slow your breathing. The concern here is the berberine in tree turmeric. In animal studies, berberine showed mild sedative effects, so pairing it with this medicine could, in theory, add to that sleepy, foggy feeling and deepen the calming effect on your body.
I want to be honest about the strength of this: it comes from lab and animal research only, not solid human studies, so it may not amount to much in real life. Still, since hydrocodone is already a sedating opioid, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you notice extra drowsiness or feel unusually groggy.

CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES
2 of 3Guaifenesin, Hydrocodone Bitartrate, Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research and preliminary clinical evidence suggest that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, can inhibit CYP2D6.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the wrinkle with this combo product: the hydrocodone portion is what matters. Hydrocodone is partly turned into a stronger painkiller called hydromorphone by a liver enzyme named CYP2D6. The berberine in tree turmeric may slow that enzyme down. In theory, that could mean less of the strong active form is made, so you might get less pain or cough relief than expected. There's also a chance more hydrocodone lingers in your system, which can add to drowsiness or constipation.
Keep in mind this is mostly lab and early human data, so it's a possible, not a guaranteed, effect. The guaifenesin and pseudoephedrine parts aren't really affected. If you're using both, just check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
3 of 3Guaifenesin, Hydrocodone Bitartrate, Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research and preliminary clinical evidence suggest that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, moderately inhibits CYP3A4.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
The piece of this combination cough and cold medicine I want to focus on is the hydrocodone, the opioid part. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help process hydrocodone. Berberine, the active compound in tree turmeric, can mildly block that same enzyme. In theory, that means hydrocodone could hang around a little longer and feel a bit stronger than usual.
What that might look like in real life is more drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, or slowed breathing. This is rated a moderate concern, and most of the evidence is early or lab-based, so I don't want to alarm you. Still, since opioids carry real risks, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing tree turmeric with this medication rather than stopping anything on your own.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Guaifenesin, Hydrocodone Bitartrate, Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride page
“Hycofenix combines guaifenesin with hydrocodone, an opioid, and pseudoephedrine, a decongestant, so supplements can collide with it from two directions at once. That is why this list of 241 ingredients deserves real caution, starting with the 13 rated major.”
