Mobocertinib Succinate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Tree Turmeric interacts with.

Theoretically, tree turmeric might increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs that are substrates of CYP3A4.
In vitro research and preliminary clinical evidence suggest that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, moderately inhibits CYP3A4.

Here's the gist with this pairing. Your lung cancer medication, mobocertinib (Exkivity), is cleared from the body by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. The berberine in tree turmeric appears to slow that same enzyme down. When the cleanup crew works slower, more of the drug can hang around, which may push its levels up and make side effects more likely.

For mobocertinib that can mean more diarrhea, nausea, mouth sores, rash, or heart rhythm changes (a longer QT interval), which this drug is already watched closely for. This is partly theoretical, but the enzyme effect is real enough that I'd play it safe. Please don't change anything on your own. Check with your oncology team or pharmacist before adding tree turmeric or berberine.

What Is Mobocertinib Used For?

  • Mobocertinib is used to treat a certain type of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that cannot be removed by surgery and has spread to other parts of the body either during or after treatment with platinum chemotherapy medications. Mobocertinib is in a class of medications called kinase inhibitors. It works by blocking the action of the abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps stop or slow the spread of cancer cells and may help shrink tumors.
