Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the gist for your Aspirin with Codeine. The codeine part can make you drowsy, and yerba mansa is traditionally thought to have a mild calming, sedative quality. Put them together and the worry is simply that they could add up, leaving you more sleepy, foggy, lightheaded, or slow to react than codeine alone would. That matters most if you drive or do anything that needs you sharp.

I want to be honest about the strength of this one: it's theoretical, based on how these compounds are thought to behave, not on solid human studies. So please don't panic. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them, especially if you already feel groggy on codeine.

Most of the list, over 200 ingredients, can add to aspirin's effect on platelets and raise bleeding risk.”
