Complete Probiotics Platinum contains 12 active ingredients — a blend of beneficial bacteria (probiotics) and a prebiotic fiber to feed them. The bacterial strains include LactoSpore (Bacillus coagulans), several Lactobacillus species (acidophilus, casei, plantarum, gasseri, salivarius, rhamnosus, and bulgaricus), multiple Bifidobacterium species (lactis, longum, bifidum), and NutraFlora Prebiotic Fiber.
These are suspended in a vegetable cellulose capsule with rice flour as an inactive ingredient.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for probiotics varies by condition. Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
Bifidobacterium bifidum appears possibly effective for IBS and respiratory tract infections. LactoSpore (Bacillus coagulans) is possibly effective for constipation and IBS.
For most other conditions listed — allergic rhinitis, asthma, anxiety, cognitive decline, colds, acne, and others — the evidence isn't established well enough in our data to rate these ingredients as effective.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotic strains are generally well tolerated in healthy adults. Minor gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and mild digestive upset have been reported with some probiotics, though these are uncommon.
There is a theoretical concern that live probiotic organisms could cause serious infection (bacteremia or sepsis) in people who are severely ill, immunocompromised, or have indwelling catheters — most reported cases have been in critically ill infants or very ill hospitalized patients, not otherwise healthy people. For pregnancy, Lactobacillus acidophilus is rated possibly safe, and Bifidobacterium longum and B. bifidum are possibly safe.

Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
Bifidobacterium longum B12L
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium longum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. longum.
Since B. longum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. longum preparations by at least 2 hours.
Bifidobacterium bifidum B66B
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium. bifidum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. bifidum.
