Full disclosure
Ingredient Transparency · database check
Full

Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: resveratrol, a naturally occurring compound found in grapes, berries, and red wine. The capsules also contain cellulose and microcrystalline cellulose as inactive ingredients (the materials that make up the capsule and help hold it together).

Does it work?

Moderate evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed

This product doesn't appear to be marketed for a specific use, so we graded Resveratrol's overall clinical evidence instead.

Moderate

Some clinical evidence supports Resveratrol for:

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.
  • Since the label doesn't commit to one use, we graded the ingredient's overall clinical evidence instead.
  • On file: Allergic rhinitis (hay fever) — rated "Possibly Effective" (Natural Medicines).
  • On file: Obesity — rated "Possibly Effective" (Natural Medicines).

The evidence for resveratrol in supplements is mixed. It's rated possibly effective for obesity and allergic rhinitis (hay fever), meaning some evidence supports its use but more research is needed.

For cardiovascular disease and high cholesterol, the evidence leans toward possibly ineffective — so this supplement has not shown clear benefit for heart or cholesterol concerns.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

At typical supplement doses, resveratrol is generally well tolerated. At higher doses, digestive upset, diarrhea, and loose stools are the most commonly reported side effects.

A small number of trial participants on dialysis reported headache, fatigue, and memory loss, but it's not clear whether resveratrol actually caused these. One case of a skin rash occurred in a clinical trial and resolved after stopping the supplement.

The safety data advises against concentrated resveratrol supplements during pregnancy. There isn't enough information to know whether it's safe while breastfeeding — talk with your pharmacist or doctor for guidance if you're nursing.

Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Resveratrol.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 823 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking this product, check with your pharmacist if you're on any blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (such as warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel). Additionally, discuss any medications your liver processes — resveratrol may theoretically increase their levels.

Most of the enzyme interactions haven't been proven in humans, but the interaction checker below will let you see your specific medications.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

Resveratrol may be worth considering if you're interested in support for obesity or seasonal allergies and have no concerns with your current medications. If you take any blood thinners, antiplatelet drugs, or medications broken down by your liver, you'll need to check with your pharmacist before starting.

High doses can cause digestive discomfort, and pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid it.

Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs

Resveratrol may have antiplatelet effects and may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Resveratrol seems to have antiplatelet effects.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates

Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit CYP1A2 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 2C19 (Cyp2C19) Substrates

Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C19.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit CYP2C19 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 2E1 (Cyp2E1) Substrates

Resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2E1.
In vitro research suggests that resveratrol inhibits CYP2E1 isoenzyme. Also, a pharmacokinetic study shows that taking resveratrol 500 mg daily for 10 days prior to taking a single dose of chlorzoxazone 250 mg increases the maximum concentration of chlorzoxazone by about 54%, the area under the curve of chlorzoxazone by about 72%, and the half-life of chlorzoxazone by about 35%. Chlorzoxazone is used as a probe drug for CYP2E1.

Likelihood Probable Evidence B
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates

Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme. However, clinical research shows that taking resveratrol 3000 mg daily for 8 weeks does not necessitate dose adjustments to medications metabolized by CYP3A4.

Extra High Potency Resveratrol by Vitals: Common Questions

Does Extra High Potency Resveratrol by Vitals interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Extra High Potency Resveratrol has a known interaction with 822 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Extra High Potency Resveratrol contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Does resveratrol actually work for weight loss or allergies?
The evidence says possibly — meaning there's some research supporting it for obesity and allergic rhinitis (hay fever), but the science isn't definitive yet. For heart disease or cholesterol, the evidence currently leans toward it not being effective.
What are the most common side effects?
Digestive upset is the main one. At higher doses, diarrhea and loose stools show up most often. At typical supplement doses, it's generally well tolerated.
Is it safe during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
The safety data advises against concentrated resveratrol supplements during pregnancy. If you're breastfeeding, there isn't enough information to know either way — talk with your pharmacist or doctor about whether it's right for you personally.
How much resveratrol is in this product?
The label says 'Extra High Potency,' but the exact dose per capsule isn't listed in the product facts I have. Check the label or the product page for the serving size.
Why does resveratrol interact with so many medications?
Resveratrol can inhibit several enzymes in your liver that break down medications. When those enzymes are slowed, drug levels in your blood may rise. It also appears to have mild blood-thinning effects, which matters if you're on medications that prevent clots.
