Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: hemp seed oil extract, cold-pressed. There are no other inactive ingredients listed.

Hemp seed oil is derived from the seeds of the hemp plant and is used in supplements for its nutritional profile, though the evidence for specific health claims is still being established.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not established

The graded evidence we hold for these ingredients covers different conditions than the ones this product is marketed for, so there's no established rating for its stated use — see Hemp's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: Heart health, skin, nails, and digestive support.
  • We looked for evidence on: Hypertension, Constipation, Cholesterol management, Skin health, Hair health.
  • The closest evidence on file: Hemp is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Constipation (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Hemp is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Hypertension.

The evidence we hold doesn't establish that hemp seed oil is effective for the conditions we have data on — constipation, eczema (atopic dermatitis), and familial high cholesterol all show insufficient reliable evidence to rate. That doesn't mean it doesn't work; it means studies haven't yet confirmed a benefit in these areas.

If you're considering this product for a specific health goal, check with us about what the current evidence actually shows.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Hemp seed foods in normal amounts are generally well tolerated. However, concentrated extracts and supplements like this one are less studied, so caution is advised.

Serious adverse effects are rare but include anaphylaxis (severe allergic reaction), heart rhythm problems, and liver inflammation — though most of the liver cases involve extracts given in very high doses to young children for seizures. Allergic reactions to hemp seed, including hives, facial swelling, and breathing trouble, have been reported, though they're uncommon.

If you have a history of seed allergies or anaphylaxis, be especially careful.

Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Hemp.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 939 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Check your medications if you take estrogens or hormone therapy (moderate risk), blood pressure drugs including ACE inhibitors, blood thinners, or any medications metabolized through your liver's CYP1A2 or CYP3A4 pathways — these are all minor interactions theoretically, but the number of drugs in the last two categories is large. Use the search tool below with your exact medication names.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

This supplement works best for people not taking hormone therapy, blood pressure medications, blood thinners, or drugs broken down by your liver's CYP1A2 and CYP3A4 pathways — which is a lot of common prescriptions. If you take any medications at all, run them through the interaction checker on this page before starting.

Serious allergic reactions are rare, but if you have a history of food allergies or anaphylaxis, talk with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Estrogens

Theoretically, hemp might interfere with hormone therapy due to its estrogenic effects.
In an ovariectomized animal model, a diet containing hemp seed 1%, 2%, or 10% resulted in normalized plasma levels of 17-beta-estradiol. The mechanism of action for this effect is unclear.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)

Theoretically, consuming hemp seed protein isolate with ACE inhibitors might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Hemp seed protein hydrolysate has shown ACE inhibitor-like effects in a hypertensive animal model. However, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans. Until more is known, monitor blood pressure and potassium levels.

Likelihood Unlikely Evidence D
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs

Theoretically, hemp seed might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
In animal research, hemp seed at 5% of the diet inhibits platelet aggregation in vitro. However, in human research, taking hemp seed oil 2 grams daily for 12 weeks does not inhibit the aggregation of platelets in vitro.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Antihypertensive Drugs

Theoretically, hemp seed protein may have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
In a hypertensive animal model, hemp seed protein hydrolysate reduced systolic blood pressure by a mechanism possibly involving the inhibition of renin and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activities. However, there was no effect of hemp seed protein on blood pressure in normotensive animals. Furthermore, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans.

Likelihood Unlikely Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP1A2 enzymes.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP3A4 enzymes.

Hemp Seed Oil by Country Farms : Common Questions

Does Hemp Seed Oil by Country Farms interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Hemp Seed Oil has a known interaction with 938 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Hemp Seed Oil contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take this if I'm on hormone therapy or birth control?
Not without checking with your pharmacist or doctor first. Hemp seed has theoretical estrogenic effects and in animal studies affected estrogen levels — it could interfere with how your hormones work. This is the most serious interaction documented for this product.
Is hemp seed oil safe if I'm allergic to other seeds?
It depends on which seeds. Allergic reactions to hemp seed itself are uncommon, but they do happen — cases include hives, facial swelling, trouble breathing, and in rare cases anaphylaxis. If you have a history of severe food allergies, talk with your pharmacist before trying this.
Does this actually work for eczema or constipation?
The evidence we hold shows insufficient reliable data to confirm it works for either condition. That doesn't mean it doesn't; it means studies haven't proven a benefit yet. If you're interested in using it for a specific reason, we can point you toward what the current research actually says.
Are there any side effects from taking hemp seed oil?
In food amounts it's generally well tolerated. In supplement amounts like this, serious side effects are rare but include severe allergic reactions, heart rhythm problems, and liver inflammation — though most documented liver cases involved very high doses given to young children for seizures.
Is it safe to take while breastfeeding?
Our data doesn't include safety information for breastfeeding. Because it's a concentrated extract (not a food amount), caution is advised and you should talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using it while nursing.
