- Holy Basil extract comes from the sacred plant Ocimum sanctum, known as Tulsi, which has been used for centuries in Ayurveda as an energizing health tonic and long considered holy due to its actions in supporting a positive outlook, a healthy lipid level, aiding in the removal of environmental toxicity and soothing the stomach lining. It also aids in tonifying the brain as well as the heart. The ancient Rishis insured the integration of Holy Basil into daily life by incorporating it into religious rituals. In this way, people at all levels of society routinely consumed Holy Basil for its health benefits during worship. According to Ayurvedic scriptures the leaves, flowers, fruit, roots, branches, main stem and the whole Holy Basil plant is sacred, even the soil under the plant is holy. It is typically grown in an earthen pot in the family home or garden.
