How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy people. That said, there's a real caution for anyone who's seriously ill, immunocompromised, or in the hospital: rare cases of bacterial bloodstream infection (bacteremia) have been reported with B. breve and B. longum, mostly in critically ill infants and young children.
If you fit that profile, talk to your doctor before using this. Minor digestive side effects like bloating, flatulence, and abdominal discomfort have been reported with probiotics in general, though they haven't been specifically documented with every strain in this blend.
One trial reported a dry cough in a single patient, and one case of vomiting and fever was seen in a child — though it's unclear if the probiotics caused it.

Kyo-Dophilus 9 is formulated with three lactobacillus strains and six bifidobacterium strains. This unique blend of nine probiotics contains specially cultured human strains of friendly bacteria that are carefully processed to retain viability at room temperature, insuring an adequate number of cells for colonization in the intestines.

Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium breve with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. breve.
Since B. breve preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. breve preparations by at least 2 hours.

L. gasseri B
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus gasseri with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. gasseri.
Lactobacillus gasseri preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. gasseri preparations by at least two hours.
