Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Waist-Line Control has two active ingredients: Meratrim Proprietary Blend and mangosteen fruit rind extract. The product also contains inactive ingredients (microcrystalline cellulose, cellulose, rice bran extract, stearate, and silica) that serve as fillers and binders.
Meratrim is a branded plant-derived blend, but we don't have its specific components listed on this page. Mangosteen is an extract from the fruit rind of the mangosteen plant, traditionally used in Asian medicine.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for mangosteen is mixed. It's possibly effective for periodontitis (gum disease), but for androgenic alopecia (male pattern baldness) and Alzheimer's disease, the evidence isn't established well enough to rate it.
We don't hold effectiveness data for the Meratrim blend or for Indian Sphaeranthus, so we can't speak to how well those ingredients work for weight management or any other purpose.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Mangosteen extract is generally well tolerated as a food, though long-term safety of concentrated supplement forms hasn't been well studied. At doses up to 560 mg daily, some people reported mild tiredness, headache, dizziness, and malaise, as well as digestive effects like constipation, nausea, bloating, or diarrhea — though it's unclear whether mangosteen caused these.
The safety data advises against using mangosteen supplements during pregnancy or breastfeeding. We don't have safety information on file for the other ingredients in this product.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take Waist-Line Control, double-check blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs — aspirin, warfarin, clopidogrel, and similar medications — with your pharmacist, as mangosteen may raise bleeding risk. Also check if you're on donepezil (Aricept) for Alzheimer's disease, as mangosteen might increase its effects.
We couldn't check the Meratrim blend or Indian Sphaeranthus, so mention those to your pharmacist too.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you take blood thinners or donepezil, check with your pharmacist before starting this product. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a bleeding disorder, talk to your doctor first.
We couldn't fully assess all ingredients here, so a conversation with your pharmacist about your specific situation is smart.

Mangosteen fruit rind extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of mangosteen with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs may increase the risk of bleeding.
In vitro and animal research shows that gamma-mangostin, a constituent of mangosteen, is a potent and competitive antagonist of the serotonin 2A (5-HT2A) receptor. Antagonism of the 5-HT2A receptor is believed to reduce platelet aggregation.
Donepezil (Aricept)
Theoretically, concomitant use of mangosteen with donepezil might increase the effects of donepezil.
Animal research shows that concomitant use of an aqueous extract of mangosteen pericarp with donepezil increases brain concentrations of donepezil at 4 hours by 64% without associated effects on systemic exposure.
