Zopiclone is a sleep medicine, often called a 'Z-drug,' that works by calming brain activity to help you drift off. On its own it can leave you feeling drowsy, foggy, or unsteady, especially the next morning. The concern here isn't about how your body breaks the drug down. It's simpler than that: 5-HTP can also make people sleepy, so layering it on top of zopiclone may pile sedation on sedation.

If you took both together, you might feel more grogginess, slowed thinking, dizziness, or a heavier 'hangover' feeling the next day, which raises the risk of falls. I'll be honest though, this caution is mostly theoretical, based on how these two behave rather than strong studies. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
