Here's the simple version: temazepam (Restoril) already works by quieting down activity in your brain to help you fall asleep. 5-HTP can cause its own drowsiness and sleepiness in some people. Put the two together and those calming effects may stack up, so you could feel more groggy, dizzy, or unsteady than you expected, especially the next morning.

To be fair, this concern is mostly theoretical, based on how each one acts in the body rather than strong studies. Still, since both touch your sleep and alertness, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before you pair them. And please don't drive or do anything risky until you know how the combination affects you.

Temazepam capsules — sold as Restoril and under the generic name Temazepam — are indicated for the short-term treatment of insomnia, generally 7 to 10 days. They help people fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.
